All we want is to be outside of a box, and all society does is fit us into a box. Be it a doctor, actor, musician or another profession that you really like. Everywhere we look, the main advice is to choose one niche and stick to it. Don’t get into two boats; otherwise, you’ll end up sinking both.
But hear me out, what if……just what if? I could do it all and not be questioned once about why I want it all. Meet Briseïs, a 20-year-old girl who is a multidisciplinary artist and has been in touch with art the moment she touched a pencil. Art flows in her blood, and her veins are filled with passion. The way she glows when she talks about it and how being on stage feels like a second home is something that no skincare can help you achieve.
She’s someone who ignores the box of society and is set out on her own path. After studying makeup in school, she learnt expression, beauty and entered the world of glamour to realise it’s so much more than….just glam. Makeup isn’t picking a brush and making someone look pretty. For her, it’s making a statement, expressing what lies underneath and letting your inner and outer worlds collide.
But as I mentioned, she didn’t stick to one niche. Just like an onion, Briseïs has layers to what art looks like for her. Pursuing acting and sitting outside audition halls, preparing the last-minute scripts, giving new characters a story and walking away with the lessons it taught her. Acting. Next to everything, acting is her passion. She can own the stage like she was meant to do this for centuries to come and owns the backstage as someone who knows how to get it done. Be it admin, logistics, costume designing, creating content, art direction – as long as it is her soul’s calling, she’ll be there. She’ll be there, right next to you, shoulder to shoulder, helping you out.
When asked who do you want to be remembered as, Briseïs said a passionate individual. The more we dug deep, the more we realised she’s already known as one. To her friends, she’s the girl who learnt art by experimenting, talking to people, presenting herself in rooms, collaborating and showing up, no matter how hard it got. Being an artist has never been easy, not before and not now.
Every artist has a museum of failures, things that felt like a failure but now they’re more than just things that went wrong. Things that had to go wrong for you to be here, to be exactly where you are meant to be. And she shared how last year has been particularly hard as an artist. Applying to her dream school, getting every step of the process right, doing the audition with her best capabilities, and still getting that one “We’re sorry but…” email had her thinking about what went wrong but that didn’t stop her from pursuing her passions.
But Briseïs, she is not moved by storms. She’s the storm. She’s the lightning house of her universe. So, as Briseïs says, “stay tuned”, she held her head high and went on to the next projects and continued acting, taking the past events as a setback while rolling between sets. She’s now pursuing a preparatory year of acting while being a full-time multidisciplinary artist. A girl who has already learnt the skill of acting is now set to master it.
It’s not every day that you meet artists who do what they love, pursue what they want, run after what they like and never stop chasing. Her life is like a staircase, and she’s busy climbing every step while letting the spotlight pave her way.
You never know what Briseïs is going to do next, so as she says, Stay Tuned.

Keep doing what you love,
